Germ problem? Call Dr. Copper

Alice Mailloux passed me an article from the WSJ about the antimicrobial effects of copper. For example, “Since receiving a grant to install copper surfaces in Pullman Regional Hospital in Pullman, Wash., Ed Harrich, director of surgical services there, said the addition of copper alloys has become a priority and is setting aside funds every year to purchase more.” It may be time for Cruise Ships, Casinos, and even Long Term Care facilities to evaluate this. There are some critics who want more data showing proof of effectiveness in clinical outcomes (not just surface bug counts), because skin to skin is still likely the way many infectious organisms are transferred.
