Why is it Called Virginia Mason?

There’s a story in today’s Seattle Times concerning the origin of Virginia Mason – nice to know more history of our high quality neighbor.  We have lots of connections to “VM” – doctors, nurses, and patients.  Do you have any other historical tidbits?
