Thanks to Ed M. – thoughts from a friend
“You say the little efforts that I make will do no good; they never will prevail to tip the hovering scale where justice hands in the balance. I don’t ever think I thought they would, but I am prejudiced beyond debate in favor of my right to choose which side shall feel the stubborn ounces of my weight.” Bonaro W. Overstreet
Is the word “hands” in the balance correct or should it be “hangs” in the balance?. I don’t get the meaning unless the author is trying to say gives up the balance. Help me understand the point he is trying to get across.
Now this comment will not post because I am being told it is a duplicate statement which it is not. Also, how do I view comments … I cannot find an option to access comments by others.
Thanks for the question. To me the post seems to say that we should not rule out the effect that even our own small voice may have. Certainly we should not be deterred from trying.
In terms of comments, these don’t go up without the editor (me) looking at them first –in order to prevent spam, etc. To find comments, just look at the very bottom of the post and click of “comment”–if there happens to be one or two.
Thanks!
