Please plan to Join Ted Klainer, Capital Projects Manager for Harborview for a presentation on and Q & A session about Proposition 1, a King County Bond issue for Harborview Medical Center. The Bond Measure, if approved, will provide financing for the following:
- Construction of a new medical tower and renovation of existing space that increases capacity for the hospital to serve more patients in the event of an emergency, disaster, or pandemic and to meet modern infection control and privacy standards;
- Expansion of the emergency department;
- Construction of new behavioral health services building to meet the growing demand for behavioral health; and,
- Critical seismic improvements to the historic Harborview campus ensuring the safety of patients, employees, and visitors.
Our speaker, Mr. Ted Klainer, is appearing as a private citizen on his own time. It is worthwhile to note, however, that he brings an in-depth understanding of the Harborview Medical Center facility and its current needs. He has served as a Capital Project Manager at Harborview Medical Center for eighteen years and has worked on wide range of construction projects at the hospital during those years.
Ted is also a member of Swedish Medical Center’s First Hill SAC and Virginia Mason Medical Center’s SAC and served as a member of Seattle Housing Authority’s Yesler Terrace Citizens Review Committee for nearly 10 years. Finally, Mr. Klainer serves as the Vice President of the First Hill Association.
I came to know Ted Klainer while serving on the board of the First Hill Improvement Association. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable on civic and health-care issues and
has the additional quality of being a thoroughly good guy. This is a very important
bond issue and I encourage all to listen in on this presentation.
