May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.
My late husband , Warren, who died from a concussion in 2014, and I loved Bob Dylan’s music and poetry. It expresses what we both feel and believe and wish for others and ourselves. Though my husband died at 72 years old, internally, he was ‘young’ in the ways that Dylan understands. My husband was and I am still a humanist. This song for many humanists is a kind of anthem, or call to what is essential for the human spirit. Thank you for using it today on the 725 blog. During this time of serious erosion of the institutions of our government and attacks against our dear constitution, it is good to hear the words of Bob Dylan. Let us be courageous in our elderhood, too, speak our truth and keep our eyes open. Like the willow, let us bend but hold our ground and not snap in half in the winds of fascist hopes around us.
Thanks,Jim, for sharing. This is why I like Skyline so much…we are active and “forever young” in spirit if not always physically. Diane
