Testing, testing. Great meeting today! If only I could have understood what was said. Problems obviously persist in trying to relay decent sound from the MBR to our apartments on Zoom or channel 371 from the audio set-up there. Are we missing a connection or a mic or…..? If Town Hall has clear audio and St. James has figured it out, why can’t we?

Hear hear!! I can’t understand oral or transcribed presentations even in the front row, and I’m embarrassed to bring guests! Our system could not pass a Washington public school auditorium acoustic test!
I’m sorry that the sound broke down. Not that we didn’t test it the night before, but as we were starting the meeting, the crew discovered all kinds of system issues.
Fact is, there was a ton of work that went into preparation for the meeting, so we’re really disappointed that it didn’t carry.
Technically, there are always sound issues in the Mount Baker Room that have mainly been worked out. But because this time we were trying for a quorum–something like 140 people in the meeting–and we had seating limits, we tried to create four (4) venues where theoretically we could gather 140 people, one being across 8th Avenue in the Olympic Tower. We didn’t come close; and the Zoom and Channel 370/371 didn’t work well either though we could hear people on Zoom in the Mt. Baker Room.
No excuses: We have to find a way to have a residents’ meeting that can include everyone who wants to attend.
In the meantime the Executive Committee is using its authority in the SRA Constitution and Bylaws to conduct a vote on amendments that will allow us to get around the quorum issue by enabling all residents to vote-from-home. Please support the amendment to the Bylaws via the ballot that’s been delivered to you. If the Bylaws Article II amendment passes, we will be able to conduct our annual April election. And certainly by then we hope to have the tech issues straightened out well enough to enable everyone who wants to, to participate.
Quality communications is essential. In our strict limits on meeting capacity the zoom and 370/371 audio must by much by.
Amen! suggest Hearts of Gold finance a decent Zoom system for Skyline. I access a number of organizations and ours is the worst by far in quality of sound and clarity.
Cannot help but agree with previous comment concerning poor audio!!
