Ed note: A number of doctors are now prescribing Metformin rather than Paxlovid to prevent long COVID–a very interesting change.

What the study showed:
Outpatient treatment with metformin reduced long COVID incidence by about 41%, with an absolute reduction of 4·1%, compared with placebo. Metformin has clinical benefits when used as outpatient treatment for COVID-19 and is globally available, low-cost, and safe.
WOW ! Then it seems that I am a lucky diabetic who has been on Metformin for years ! Never before have I put the words ‘lucky’ and ‘diabetic’ together. An odd pairing for sure. And even more surprising to me that this medication is being used for long covid. I wonder what the dosage is when used this way.
