   I’m not sure where 700,000 years comes from. Though this is an ape, not a monkey (no tail); their evolutionary paths split 34 million years ago. Monkeys cannot hang from a branch as depicted for very long as their elbow joint will not extend to 180 degrees and then lock, to take the tension off the ligaments holding the elbow together.
