From a backyard to Black Beauty Ranch: Elsa’s story In February 2021, as a historic freeze gripped Texas, a six-month-old tiger was found in someone’s backyard in below-freezing temperatures, wearing a harness. Rescued from the wild pet trade, she was brought to Black Beauty Ranch, our sanctuary in Texas, and given a name: Elsa.
At Black Beauty Ranch, Elsa would never wear a leash again. Today, she roams freely in her three-quarter-of-an-acre enclosure with trees, a climbing platform, a waterfall and a pool, living life as a tiger should. Watch the video to meet Elsa and see what sanctuary truly means for a rescued tiger.
